It's the GROW-ing season, folks!

It's go time, and as we all hit the ground running on landscaping work, things can get hectic quickly. As that happens, I want you to stay focused on just three things:

1. Devote energy to things you can control. This helps you spend your time on what will actually make an impact on your success and keeps you from getting sucked into a doom spiral.

Things we can't control: the weather, the economy, if our clients are in a good or bad mood.

Things we can control: our own attitude, how we set up our calendar, and the attention to detail we give our own work.

2. Continuous improvement. When we're in the run, it's difficult to take a step back and spend time working on our businesses or our careers. BUT new ideas we have now can't take precedence over mission-critical items. So instead of jumping to implement every new idea immediately, try this: keep a list of things you want to improve as the season goes along, and you can tackle that list as you have time. Maybe that's this week, maybe it's in three months. This can help us all to continuously get better, without spending so much time on new ideas that we drop the ball on some basics.

If you're looking for other ways to improve as a professional this season, I encourage you to subscribe to our podcast, The Grow Show powered by STIHL. We release new episodes weekly on Wednesdays, and they're concise enough to listen to while driving between properties or on your commute to work.

3. Boss your calendar, don't let it boss you. It can be difficult to be proactive when you're busy, so schedule time for planning or for tasks you know you need to get done. Making a plan for how you will spend your time in the week ahead will help you to stay on track and avoid distractions.

Get out there and have a great week, I'll be back with another Great Idea for you next Sunday!
