Having a strategy is critical to the success of our businesses each year. In its simplest form, a strategy is what your company is going to do, and not going to do, in the coming years.

Your strategy is a key first building block to prepare for 2022. It helps you to define what projects you should be selling more of, which clients you want to target, what equipment you may need to buy, how many people you'll need to hire or keep on, and more. This week, I wanted to share the three initiatives we had for 2021, and talk now about how we're preparing for next year:

All planning is good, and the time to start (if you haven't already) is now. We have a virtual event on September 10, Sticking with Strategy, if you need some help planning. In it, we'll cover the important considerations while setting your strategy, tactics for sticking with your strategy throughout the year, and the metrics you and your team should watch to know if your strategy is working or not. Vince Torchia and I will lead the three live sessions, which will also be recorded and shared with registrants after the event ends.

I hope you'll join us online for this, but if not be sure to start thinking about your strategy for next year now. Ask,
  • Ideally, 12 months from now where would you like your business to be?
  • What are your goals for 2022, both personally and for your business?
  • Does your team understand their role in achieving the business' goals?
  • How can you communicate with your team so that they understand what's in it for them if this strategy succeeds? A strategy that's all about you will never stick.

Talk to you next week!
