By the time you read this, most of us are wrapping up our final jobs and site visits of the year. And depending on what snow might be coming for our friends in snow markets, the week between Christmas and New Year's offers something rare: actual quiet.

The phone stops ringing. Your inbox slows to a trickle. Even the most demanding parts of running a business seem to take a break. It's one of the few times all year when you can actually think without interruption.

Don't Waste This Week

Here's what I know after 41 years: how you manage this week says a lot about how you manage your business. While you're drifting, your competition might be planning.

I'll spend the first part of this week with my family. That's non-negotiable. But I'll also carve out time for strategic planning.

My Five Focus Areas This Week

  1. Rest: Getting more sleep, taking daily walks, and reading something uplifting to recharge mentally and physically.
  2. Gratitude: Writing notes to people who made my year possible - family, key team members, vendors, clients, and mentors.
  3. Clean the Clutter: Tackling my inbox, office, truck, and garage. Reviewing every to-do item and deleting what no longer matters.
  4. Set Q1 Goals: Detailing three things (not 10 or 20) that I need to do each month to contribute to our sales goal.
  5. Connect: Taking someone important to breakfast or lunch and reaching out to my leadership team about what they want for 2026.

Listen to The Grow! Show

This Wednesday, I'm releasing an entire episode of The Grow! Show on my system for winning this week. I share my three-bucket framework: Recharge, Reflect, and Reset.

  • Recharge is time with family (scheduled and protected)
  • Reflect means looking at reality from your calendar and data
  • Reset means deciding what to stop, delegate, or double down on

I also walk through my daily rhythm: one hour in the morning for yourself, one family activity, one cleanup task, and one note about tomorrow. Simple, powerful, repeatable.

Make Time for Both

Resting is okay. But drifting is dangerous. The key is finding balance between rest and reflection.

What's on your to-do list that you've been putting off? This is the perfect week to tackle it.

If you have extra listening time this week, here are three of our most popular Grow Show episodes from 2025 worth revisiting:

Whatever holiday you celebrate, I hope it's a happy one. Thank you for being part of this community.

I'll talk to you next week!
